Music News: Country Grunge Singer-Songwriter Shawn Stoddard on 95.3 The Wolf

(portaltaxi.net/music)–Singer-Songwriter Shawn Stoddard will be performing a new song from his debut album “Further Down That Road” on 95.3 The Wolf on Wednesday, July 24 at 8:00 am.

“The song is called Now She’s Gone,” said Stoddard. “It has never been performed live so this will be an exclusive performance for the Friends of the Den.”

Stoddard’s appearance on The Wolf is two days before the third round of The Texaco Country Showdown, which will be held on Friday, July 26 from 6-7 pm at the Gazebo in Library Park as part of the Ogdensburg Seaway Festival in Ogdensburg, NY. Stoddard will be a contestant at that event.

The Texaco Country Showdown is America’s largest country music search. It begins each spring with over 450 local talent contests sponsored by country music radio stations throughout the US. Winners advance to their respective State competitions and compete for a $1,000 prize, the State Title and the opportunity to advance to one of five Regional Finals. It’s the last step before the prestigious, televised National Final. The audience cheers on the Regional Winners, as they compete for the Grand Prize of $100,000 and the title of “Best New Act in Country Music.”

95.3 The Wolf is hosting The Texaco Country Showdown in the North Country and has already had two winners in their qualifying rounds, Kelsey Newtown and Rebecca Branchau.

“There are many gifted singers-songwriters in the area,” said Stoddard. “I am looking forwarded to hearing Kelsey and Rebecca compete at the grand finale at the St. Lawrence County Fair in Gouverneur and hopefully be a finalist alongside them.”

Stoddard is currently ranked #1 in the all genres charts for Ogdensburg on ReverbNation and was ranked #5 in the top 10 most viewed profiles on The Texaco Country Showdown website for the week of July 12-19, 2013. Stoddard donates all song sales to charity with 50% going to Love Hope Strength, an international, music-centric cancer charity and the other 50% going to The Fender Music Foundation, a music charity funded by people who want to change the state of music education.

“Win or lose, The Texaco Country Showdown is a great opportunity for musicians to showcase their talent, interact with fans and garner new ones,” said Stoddard. “It is also a wonderful way for the community to support local music.”
