So you a new member.  What now?

We have made a list of things you should do as a new member.

 Complete Your Profile – You need to upload a profile picture or logo.  If your a music recording artist or band you also need to complete page 2 of your profile.  It is important that you complete page 2 of your profile so that when readers search music yours will show up.  To learn how to update your profile go Here.

Post Your Music and Content – You can post your music players, music videos, music blogs and music press releases.  The more stuff you post the more you will be seen.  Follow the “Submit Music” link in the main menu of the site to post your music content.  Remember you can not post the same thing twice, but you can republish your current post by changing the publish date.  Just go in and edit your post, change publish date and save.  We only permit you to re-publish one post per day so that not all your post show up at the same time.  In case you did not know.. your videos, music players, blogs and press releases auto publish to our News and Blogger Network, To our RSS Feed and to our Twitter, Facebook and Myspace pages.  It also shows up on any site using our rss feed.  Remember when you post something in the areas above make sure it reads like something you would find in a newspaper or magazine.  Our network is built to look like a magazine from the main page, however once your inside it is a complete music social network.  You can post status message via “The Wire”, it works similar to twitter and facebook.

Join Some Groups – Follow the link in the main menu to our “Groups” under Topics.  Join the ones that are of interest to you.

Help Us Help You – Our site is a great way to promote your music, so we ask all members to help us promote it.  How can you help?  Simple.. just post something on your facebook or twitter about us.  You could share a link to your profile page to let people know that you joined, maybe pick out another artist on the site that you like and share a link to their music, or pick out one of the features on our site that you like and post something about it.  We ask you to do this as often as you are willing.  The more you do it actually helps you.  If all our members share links to each others pages on PortalTaxi.com Music.. think of all the new fans you could get.

Do You Have A Show or Concert Coming Up? – Post something about it in our events area.  You will find a link in the main menu under Topics

Make New Music Friends – Find other recording artist that play your type of music and send them a friend request.  How many new music friends can you get?  If your a fan of an artist you can send them a friend request and interact with them.

Check Out Our Chat Room – Your welcome to use our chat room to interact with fans and other recording artist.  Do you have new music out.. post something about it in the chat room.  Would you like to ask someone else what they think of the music that you are working on?  Ask it in the chat.  There is a mini chat in the right column of every page and there is a full page chat that you can find by following the link in the main menu.

Live – Would you like to broadcast a live web concert?  Check out the “Live” link in the main menu under the videos.  This is a new area and we would love to let you use it.  If your interested in having a live concert send us a private message via our PortalTaxi Profile Page.

The Wire –  The wire is our version of a combination of a twitter.com and facebook.com stream.  You can post status message like you would on Twitter and Fackbook.  You can even @ message people like you can on twitter.  You will find a link in the top menu to “The Wire”.  There is also a public message button on all members profile pages so you can @ message them.  In addition there is private messaging via their profile page.

Note to Fans:  If your account is set as a fan account, you can not post music videos, music players, press release or blogs be default.  It is meant for recording artist and you will get an error message if you try.  If you would like to blog on our site contact us directly and we can set it up for you.  Fans can post status message in the wire, interact with artist and post comments to post.
