Music Blog: Auriemma Music Review

(portaltaxi.net/music) – We were recently reviewed Auriemma, a solo musician from WA State over in the US. Having been playing the guitar and singing since age 6, this folk rock solo artist has a multitude of tracks available on his Facebook page, showing his roots and development over the 35 years he’s been playing. Aiming for a hometown in our hearts, I set out to check out a few tracks to see what to expect from the music. This cat has only one cd and it’s a greatest hits!

Opening with Change there’s an immediate sense of calm and cool coming out over the music, a soft guitar line forming with a solid beat and joining forces with a soft and soothing vocal line. Throwing in a bong sound effect to get the track started, the cooling calm of this track is evident from the off, forming a sound which is going to chill you out, sit you back and make you appreciate everything you’re hearing. I love the laid back approach that he’s gone for on this track, it’s got that sunny day feeling which immediately brightens your spirits and puts you in a good mood. Queen Of The South follows much the same sorts of convention, forming a track which could be perceived as more stereotypically folk than the previous one, but layering the track full of emotion as well as those chilled out melodies. Melodic and catchy throughout, this is the sort of track which is going to accompany a quiet evening in, a chilled out get together with friends or merely a lazy afternoon in the sun, all of the melodies flowing out of the track in perfect harmony and pulling you along for the ride.

I Wrote This Song For You (Remix) comes up next and once again, sticks to the more stereotypical conventions of folk style music, the guitar adopting a deep and powerful undertone which gives the track a sense of power as well as melody. This approach to song writing sets this track as one which stands out, showing that it’s possible to craft tracks which are both upbeat, catchy, fun and soft at the same time. If this was a stand out track then Going In Reverse is simply a work of genius, forming a sound which is calm and cool once again whilst still pulling you in to ensure you’re listening to everything that’s going on. Laid back and once again befitting of a chilled out sunny afternoon, this track manages to once again form a laid back tone whilst still giving you a message to check out. Personally, this is my favourite from the selection of tracks I listened to, there’s just something about it which makes me want to sit back, hug my wife and feel good about life as it stands.

Ok (So Stoned) comes up next and adopts all of the hallmarks of a track which incorporates the term ‘stoned’ in its name. Almost psychedelic in its form, the soft and melodic tones of this track simply get you to sit back, chill out, crank the volume up and enjoy the chance to do nothing for a while. The vocals are the key to this track forming in the background to create a sound which is impossible to resist, the sort of thing which is going to solidify Auriemma as an artist to make sure you check out. Closing the selection (for the purposes of the review) with Sweetheart (For Lynn) we’re treated to one more laid back and carefully crafted morsel of pure unadulterated musical genius. Once again forming a song which is going to tug at the heart strings as it chills you out, this is yet another track which displays exactly why you need to hear this music, it’s guitar work done simply but to perfection, showing that you don’t need distortion or power to create a hard hitting track, you can simply rely on musical ability.

I know there’s a hell of a lot more to hear on the page, but it would be impossible to work through all of the tracks for review! What I can say though is that every single track I heard on this page is different in its own special way, presenting tracks which are upbeat, chilled out, calm, emotional, and at times, powerful. Personally, this is the sort of music which is real to me, the sort of music which makes you remember what REAL music is, and how it’s written by people who understand it–
