About Me

For Pensacola, Florida’s 23-year-old rising star Cozzy, getting to record deal is like a dream come true. His Uncle, Tobin “TC” Costen was one of his biggest influences, Master P’s Manager and Vice President and General Manager at No Limit Records. Cozzy was looking for an opportunity to showcase his talent and sought out his Uncle to help jumpstart his career. After hearing a few of his songs, Costen immediately signed him to Me & Mine Entertainment, the label known for releasing Lil’ Troy’s Platinum Album, Sitting Fat Down South.
Cozzy describes his own music as Southern riding music while at the same time signifying deep meaning. “Hip Hop music is about stories. Some of those stories can be meaningful and still be fun. I always choose songs that I can’t relate to in some way, shape, or form. My music will always be a reflection of who I am.”
When asked about his first experience in a studio, Cozzy responded, “One of my producers, J Swoll was amazed at how well I did in the studio the first time. He said I took to it like a natural! And the studio engineer couldn’t believe I had never been into the studio prior to this experience.”
Cozzy’s talents are rather developed for a young man who has only been rapping for a short time. His first studio performance required little to no tuning but that doesn’t mean that Cozzy doesn’t seek constant improvement and constructive criticism in all areas. “You can be a performer and not be an artist, but I am an artist. I have spent time studying and researching everything I can about the music industry and becoming an artist. I am not only honing my writing and production skills, but I am also developing my total package including my stage presence. This isn’t just a dream of mine, this is a goal that I strive to achieve and I’m on a mission.” Cozzy takes and applies all the advice he receives from music industry professionals he works with and who mentors him.
In addition to Master P, Cozzy’s influences include, UGK and former TRU member King George. He was most touched by King George’s music when his uncle played “Life of a Kingpin” after hearing the deep tale of the rise and fall of a Kingpin, he was hooked.
It is Cozzy’s hope that his music will provide a new means for him to give back to his community. “I would like to give back to the people of Pensacola, FL,” he says, in addition to wanting to give back to other charitable organizations close to his heart such as Cancer Research, the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, and Literacy Programs.
Having been involved in performing throughout high school, Cozzy is no stranger to the stage. “I feel at home on stage, so every stage I step foot on becomes my home during that performance,” Cozzy states emphatically. Cozzy has had the opportunity to perform in a variety of places, from his hometown in Pensacola, FL to locations in Charlotte, NC. “I rap any time I can so wherever I am is my stage.
Cozzy’s career started with a just a single, “Laker Gang”, an ode to his favorite Basketball Team. “My Uncle, TC, is really close friends with Coach Mike Brown so I had an opportunity to go to the games and meet some of the players so I thought I would write a song about the team I love, the Lakers.” Cozzy showed his passion for his team and continues to work hard to get his music out there to the world.
Cozzy has plans to perform on bigger stages. Following his upcoming hometown concert to perform songs from his new album, Cozzy will be making a permanent move to Charlotte, NC and will be promoting The Calm Before the Storm “I would love to box up all my stuff right this second and move to Charlotte tonight, but I still have to finish my next album, “Man of My City.” That’s pretty important!” Cozzy knows that, with Me & Mine Entertainment and his Pensacola family, Fresh By Nature or F.B.N. on his side, anything is possible for him to achieve his lofty goals and make his dreams come true. “Everyone has dreams and goals,” he states. “I am just going for mine to the fullest!”
